Default [IBC] haiku about bamboo

I'd be happy to Chris,

I'm planning on using it as part of a graphic presentation of a landscape
design I'm doing for grad school. One of the overlying themes of the design
is the sound of the landscape... thus an allusion to rain through bamboo
leaves, the wind through the culms... snow on the bamboo grove... any of
those would be very nice. The poem itself will literally be inked out onto
the vellum, or I will transfer it on using reversed Xerox copy of the text
and acetone (a very nice charcoal-ish 'dreamy' effect is produced with that
technique).

Subject: [IBC] haiku about bamboo

Hi Dale. Hi Dave.

Dave writes,
***If anyone knows of haiku and/or very short poetry about bamboo, I

would
love to see it.

Dale adds,
***... if you are a haiku buff you would be interested in the two small

haiku books that Vaughn Banting wrote.

Before the "haikumatics" get primed with Hud Nordlin gracing the group,
again ...GRIN..., perhaps you can tell us the use for your
bamboo haiku,
Dave. Thinking of a particular season's allusion to bamboo--
e.g., budding,
blowing in the wind, touched by moonlight, bent by snow-- can improve the
vigor of the word picture or make it useless for several seasons of the
year. Seasonal allusion is one of those conventions which may or
may not be
'required' depending on your taste.

I totally agree with Dale on finding Vaughn's haiku books. The pages of
"Word Bridges" is each graced with a bamboo watermark. "Reflections on
Life" is just stunning in nature and life allusions.
