The second photo (I'm not sure it is the same as the first or not) is
Henbit. Highly invasive plant that was introduced as ground cover
originally because it covers ground -- FAST. Whether it is a weed or
not
depends on whether you like it or not. Personally, I've spent many
hours
this spring removing it from herb beds and I consider it a weed but it
can sure look pretty if there's nothing else there.
