Hi Joe Rent the Lawn roller from a good rentals company if you have one.
You won't use it enough to recoup your investment.

I am grading and sodding a large area of my lawn and am considering buying
a
lawn roller for preparing the soil and rolling the sod. I could also use
it
occasionally to level uneven spots in the lawn. Lowes has one for $213
and
Sears has one for about $100 cheaper. Any recommendations?
