Default Best Lawn Roller?

Hi,

I am grading and sodding a large area of my lawn and am considering buying a
lawn roller for preparing the soil and rolling the sod. I could also use it
occasionally to level uneven spots in the lawn. Lowes has one for $213 and
Sears has one for about $100 cheaper. Any recommendations?

Regards,

Joe Morris

Rent one now and don't bother compacting your soil after you get your
lawn growing. You will spend half your time compacting it and the other
half aerating it. Why do all that work?

Joseph is right. Rolling lawns has gone out of fashion. I've just left the
industry after an 11 year stint. Rolling a lawn creates soil compaction and
unless you have a putting green out there you don't want to get into it.
What people do now is top dress the low areas to bring everything up to
level again.

Yep, rent one. It will be bigger and better than the one you can buy
there and you are correct, roll it once and forget it. If you need to
roll again for some reason, rent it again. For $113 you can rent one
several times and not have to store it between uses.

Hi Joe Rent the Lawn roller from a good rentals company if you have one.
You won't use it enough to recoup your investment.

Make sure you rent one that you fill with water. Empty it weighs nothing, full
it will flatten anything.

The best lawn roller is the one you leave at the store and never buy. Dont
bother.
