Default Mahonia disease - any ideas?

Hang on... I'm confused.

One of you says "burn the leaves", one of you says "don't burn them".

I've picked them all up, sprays the remaining leaves with anti-fungal spray
and gathered all the fallen and diseased leaves into a plastic bag at the
moment.

I have a Mahonia x Media 'Lionel Fortescue'...
Symptoms a many leaves with black patches which seem to be growing.
Leaves eventually drop off.

Can anyone diagnose and suggest a cure for this?

Some kind of leafspot fungus, perhaps. Sanitation is very
important for ailments of this general category. Go out and pick
up all the fallen leaves and burn them.
