Bonsai Socieities of Florida has a list of speakers that tour the state each
year. Clubs can sign on or not. I suppose if enough clubs turn down a
speaker, that speaker would not come. Bonsai Societies of Brevard (County,
Florida) is fortunate to have an open mind about speakers, a willingness to
raise money to pay for them and the person in charge of the state wide
schedule as part of our club. This year Dale Cochy came on a day I had to
work, but I got to meet and hear from Walter Pall as well as Ben Oki. We
also took a field trip as a club to Mary Madison's home/nursery in the
company of Jim Smith and Jim Vanlandingham. Michael Perasino was unable to
make the trip as planned, much to my disappointment.
We are also able to get some South Florida masters to make day trips to our
club meetings.
I suppose I am gloating, but I suspect that South/Central Florida has one of
the most active Bonsai communities in the US.
