Default How to get rid of ivy?

I sprayed mine twice with RoundUp and it killed it completely down to the
roots.

At what concentration? We're talking about English ivy right, not
ground ivy?

English Ivy has a natural wax on the top of its leaves that is almost
completely impervious to herbicides. Triclopyr (aka Weed-B-Gon Clover
& Oxalis killer or Brush-B-Gon) can work, but it has to be applied to
the bottom of the leaves. The only quick fix is to carefully _spray_
(not pour!!) a very light coating of gasoline on the leaves, and the
plant will shrivel and die completely within 2-4 hours. I've used a
small water spray bottle for this task(the ones made for hair are
good), and it can be done without causing damage to surrounding plants
or soil. It doesn't hurt that you only need about 10 cents worth of
gas either.
