Default [IBC] Prove the Age of Trees

In a message dated 2/23/2003 9:29:17 PM Eastern Standard Time,
writes:

Some of the trees are listed as 400, 800 and 1,000 years old. My wife
wanted to know how you could prove that the trees are that old.

Well, you really can't. You could cut them off four inches up from
the roots and count the rings. That will only tell you growing seasons not
really years. Now some of these are famous Japanese trees and may actually
have a documented history for some or all of the time.
