Default dosing Potassium...

I am pretty sure that if you are not now having trouble with your Whiptail
(Rineloricaria lanceolata), you soon will. I would seriously consider
getting this guy a new home. At the very least, check on him at night to see
if he is on the plants.. I have heard that this fish will eat plants,
especially as they get larger.

I have not ever observed my ottos damaging my plants, though I have the very
small variety of Ottos commonly called Golden Ottos (Otocinclus affinis).
It is possible the larger Ottos are more prone to damaging plants.

I have a bristlenose pleco (Ancistrus sp.) that is quite destructive to my
large Amazon swords. Some people report that their bristlenose plecos do
fine in a planted tank. I have not been so lucky.

By the way, I have 3 clown loaches (Botia macracanthus) as well. Some
participants in this newsgroup claim clowns can be destructive to plants.
This has not been my experience, so far anyway. It is interesting that you
are having trouble with your clowns. Possibly as my loaches get bigger, I
will have trouble. My loaches are now about 4 inches or less in length.
These are very close to my favorite fish around, so I hope they remain well
behaved. -Bruce

I have 4 adult Otto's, 3 SAE, and 1 large Whiptail. Do you think the
Whiptail could be doing this? I didn't think they would do this. Also,
once a hole appears, the Clown Loaches start eating at it and make it
bigger. I think a lot of this will go away when I get my PMDD going as

soon
as the rest of my ingredients come in. I got the Plantex CSM today. )

My melon sword put up a new marron'ish/red leave over the past couple of
days and it too has some small holes in it. About 4 days ago, I put some
SeaChem Florish tablets under the roots of all 4 of my Swords hoping that
helps.

My spell checker got the best of me.. replace the word "place" with

"pleco".

If you have a pleco, beware. -Bruce

If you have a place or other sucker-mouth fish, this may be the cause

of
holes in your broadleaf plants..

Hi.

I am seeing some holes developing in some of my older Sword plant

leaves
and
have read this is due to K deficiency. Is this accurate? Can some

of
you
please share your experience of dosing with Potassium? Currently I

have
SeaChem's Potassium Supplement and use it at not quite the

recommended
dosage. What other factors could lead to a low K level?

Can you recommend a good, accurate K test kit?

Also, I am planning on stopping to use SeaChem's fertilizer products

once
my
ingridients for PMDD comes in. I have followed what thekrib.com

says
for
what to get and will be following the advice from this site as well

about
how to dose. Any experience here will be appreciated.

For anyone that is using the PMDD mixing from The Krib, what kind of
results
are you getting, and how long did it take for you to notice

improvements
in
your plants? What was there before state and what is there state

now
that
you have been dosing PMDD?

When dosing PMDD, did you stop other 3rd party fertilizers?

Thanks,
Jesse
