Default DIY Co2 Reactor?

"Dustin" wrote in message ...
Hi THere,

I've followed the basic idea -
Flow input to a vaccum from a gravel cleaner -
bio balls
sponge at the bottom.
1 bubble per second

Problem is the canister fills with co2 - like an air pocket of Co2 -

Is this because there is not enough water flow or ?

Thanks!

Dustin

To adjust for a pre set level:
Drill a 3/16inch hole and put a 1/2 piece of rigid vinyl tubing in
this hole.
Measure down from the top how far you want to have this level be eg 3
inches etc.
Now drill another hole the same size and add another piece of rigid
vinyl tubing , attach a piece of airline to the powerhead's venturi.
Now when the level gets down to that point, the bubbles will get very
fine and the the unit will waste the CO2 since it's now in excess.

If you keep adding CO2(eg too much) the excess will "Burp" out the
other 3/16" hole.

You can also turn your CO2 off this way with out touching the flow
rate or stopping the DIY yeast etc, the excess will go out the burp
tube and when the power head is "off", no CO2 is diffused into the
tank.
I simply plug my powerhead into the lighting timer.
CO2 comes on only when you need it.

Those two adjustments really improve the performance.
