Default Orchid Zone

Actually I don't have contact information, I do all my business with
them through a friend. However, they will not sell retail, so I don't
know how usefull it will be to contact them. As far as I know, Terry is
still in charge. They ran into some big problems with a cross of
'sanderianum' that they sold thousands of. Of course it turned out to
be Prince Edward of York, still a nice plant but not sanderianum, and
certainly an honest mistake. Many people demanded their money back.
That might be the financial entanglement mentioned. Or maybe there is
something else I don't know about.

Hi Rob,

No other entanglements that I know of.

Orchid Zone made good on that mistake, but unfortunately a few retailers still
have not- retailers who got the benefit of the corrected orders from OZ in some
cases.

It is my understanding that Orchid Zone does not do retail just because of the
time and hassle involved. As an individual I used to be able to buy direct
"wholesale" since the quantities were lower- 100 plants or $1,000, but the bar
has been raised to where you have to blow a pretty big amount of money these
days.

The website is nowhere to be found I see, so all I can do is rely on reports
that wholesale these days is a minimum 10,000 plant order.

OZ supplies almost every major Paph retailer I know of to some degree- in many
cases totally, so given the enormous inventory they have I can understand why
they would avoid direct retail.

It should also be noted that direct retail would have the potential to compete
with their many large customer retailers. Hence there is little benefit in
doing any retail work.

Tom.
