Yeah. And it's not just algae. High levels of nitrate are stressful
for many fish. You can acclimate most of them to it, but they seem to
find lots of nitrate in the water to be more stressful than lots of
phosphate or potassium.
Well, yes, there are of course fish health problems. When I say "high" I am
not talking about "10 goldish in a ten gallon tank, 5% water changes once a
month". More like "oops missed a weekly water change last week"
