Default Creosote Substitute

Scrap wood is put in a closed metal container with a pipe leading out. Its heated vigorously and the fumes condensed. What you get is creosote plus flammable gas, high in very toxic CO.

Its upto the individual to ensure they act safely & comply with the relevant laws, I'm only describing how its made.

I wonder what's the easiest suitable container.
