Bet you did not know that sunlight falling on the earth in one hour is

If the earth is warming, who is more responsible, man or the sun?

Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg's
Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is
evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by
changes in the sun.

Abdussamatov's work, however, has not been well received by other
climate scientists.

"His views are completely at odds with the mainstream scientific
opinion," said Colin Wilson, a planetary physicist at England's Oxford
University.

"And they contradict the extensive evidence presented in the most recent
IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] report." (Related:

We also shouldn't forget that 2/3 of the planet is covered in water.
With evaporative cooling, the planet can absorb more heat without the
temperature rising. That water vapor, though, when it re-condenses in a
storm, will release energy to drive the storm. The more condensation,
the bigger the storm.

Is that ignorance or political spin? The matter is not the amount of heat
arriving at the surface from the Sun -- it is the matter of how much is
departing. If they are equal then the overall temperature of the system
does not change. If the atmosphere traps more heat then the overall
temperature rises. Mankind cannot control how much radiation arrives but it
has managed to reduce how much is leaving and the results, should one read
the studies by atmospheric scientists rather than listen to Fox, are pretty
clear. The amount of man-caused increase may vary by fiddling amounts
between the studies but you will find that 95%+ of them say that it is
happening.
