Default pruning weeping cherry

Hi all
I have a weeping cherry growing well, and don't know how to prune it to keep
the long umbrella shape. Anyone able to help me out please?
It's healthy and has branches almost to the ground, last year the trimmed
branches (they were trimmed when it was first planted) increased in length
from a couple of feet to trail almost to the ground. I am concerned if I
shorten the weeping branches they will branch out and grow more bushily or
laterally and not regrow downwards.... plenty of small spurs or buds all
along all branches.
Anyway ty in advance
Love and peace
Syrian Prince
