Shoot Report in Myakka City FL
Posting my current shootings here at the beginning to the season. I
hope that we can get a few more people in Florida to post some of their growth information. Bambusa Oldhami - young clumps (2 years old) have a few 2 - 3" shoots while the old clumps (5+ years) are still waiting. Bambusa textilis Kanapaha - many 2" shoots nicely spaced from the clump. Clump is 3 years old. Bambusa textilis Gracilis - nothing yet. Bambusa textilis Standard - several 1" shoots Bambusa ventricosa 'Kimmei'- several small shoots on 3 year old clump Bambusa vulgaris 'Vittata' - nothing yet. Has not been a great performer for us. Does anyone in the area have a division from a prolific grower that they'd trade for a gracilis start? Bambusa vulgaris 'Wamin' - one shoot so far. Slow grower for us, but what a sight to see Dendrocalamus giganteus - growing from seed. No new shoots. Bambusa lako - several new clumps all about 1" Bambusa malingensis - dozens of new shoots all around 2" in dia. 3 year old clump. Beautiful! Bambusa vulgaris 'Common' - new clumps with good leaf growth but no new shoots yet. Bambusa vulgaris 'Budda Belly' - several new shoots in the 2" dia range. 4 yo clump. Very bushy. Bambusa multiplex 'Alphonse Karr' - several new shoots under 1" in dia. This has been a real bushy one for us. Currently in a thin canopy under oaks and loquat. B.multiplex 'Golden Goddess' - many small shoots Looking for Bambusa Chungii (Blue Bamboo) and Dendrocalamus Giganteus. |
