Default Madrona?

Hello. I'm new to bonsai and I'm sure I started with the wrong tree, but I
live in Washington State and we have a ton of wild madronas here and they
are so pretty. So, I went out and found a small one to try to adopt as a
bonsai. What few books I've managed to find and read said that is a viable
way to start a bonsai. Recently, I went to a hardware store to get some wire
and try to wire the trunk just a bit. I met someone at the store who claims
madronas are nearly impossible to transplant. Does anyone know anything
about madronas(Abrutus Menziesii), and their viability as bonsais? I can't
seem to find any information about them in any reference to bonsai. Am I
crazy to even attempt one, let alone as my first tree?
