Default total leaf cutting

hello folks

i'm wondering whether to be brave and remove all the leaves from my acer
palmatum deshojo. i've read that if one does this in summer it encourages a
second, smaller and brighter crop of leaves in autumn. well does it?

thanks for your guidance...
