You will certainly want to look up Danny Use who will be hosting the Ginkgo
Award 2003 on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September 2003 on the premises of Bonsai
Center Ginkgo, Heirweg 190, 9270 Laarne.

The selections for the award are over. About 240 fine bonsai, from 12
different countries, have been selected for the coming TEN. A completely renewed
exhibition with 2 separate display halls: a TOKONOMA TEN
and a CLASSIC TEN.
*Thursday September 25, 10.00 - 20.00 hours: Arrival of the trees (only selected
trees are accepted), start of the photo session for the book "The best of Bonsai in
Europe 4". The participators are invited to accompany their tree and to arrange the
set-up in the photo studio.
*Friday September 26, 09.00 - 18.00 hours: Arrival of the trees.
09.00 - 22.00 hours: Start set- up of the exhibition, continuing photo session and
registration of the participators after they have presented their tree in good
health and ready for display to Danny.
The nursery is closed for non-participators on Thursday 25th and Friday
26th of September.
*Traditional barbecue on Saturday evening 15.00€/person: RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE
WITH MENTION OF YOUR NAME AND NUMBER OF PARTICIPATORS, payment and collecting of
tickets are possible on Saturday September 27th.
A ceremony honouring all selected participants and collaborators takes place
from 9pm onwards.
Non-stop demonstrations are organised on Saturday and Sunday, with special
guest Salvatore Liporace on Sunday morning from 10 until 12h30 with a lecture on
objective methods for selecting bonsai: the result of many years of study and
research, illustrated by means of diapositives (slides). The lecture is traduced in
French, Dutch and English.
During the weekend also demo’s by François Jeker (France), Jean Paul Polmans
(Belgium) and Georg Reinhard (Switzerland).
Entrance fee:
*-15.00 euro/one day pass. Groups of 20 persons and more 12.40€/per person/day.
*-25.00 euro/weekend passes. Groups of 20 persons and more 20.00€/per person/weekend
pass.
All these passes give access to the exhibition, demos, commercial zones and
cafeteria.
