Default [IBC] Tamarix juniperina #2

I'm at the extension office and looking at Hortus III.

T. juniperiana is most commonly known as T. chinensis. This is the extremely invasive Tamarix of the southwestern U.S.A., where it is blamed for delpeting groundwater in the airid lowlands.

Synonyms you might look for include: T. amurensis, T. caspica, T. elegans, T. japonica, T. juniperina, T. libanotica, and T. plumosa.

Hortus says the species are "not easily Identified, being usually distinguished by technical characteristics of the flowerrs, fruit and leaves, not readily seen with the naked eye."

Translation: Buy this from a nursery and you take your chances that you got the one you wanted.

T. chinensis has "black to brown bark."
