[IBC] Climate Zone Map
Hi:
I'm looking for a global climate zone map for my bonsai page ( http://www.bonsaichat.com ). I've been able to find N.Am, and Euro maps but no luck with other regions. Do other parts of the world not refer to climate zones? The concept of climate zones was the brainchild of someone in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Someone else adapted it to Europe. I don't know if -- but doubt that -- it has been adapted widely elsewhere. Not much point in having one for the tropics (zone 12+), which eliminates a great chunk of the globe. Ditto for north/south of the Arctic/Antarctic circles. There also are the American Horticultural Society's Heat Zone Index (which would be MUCH more useful to me if plantsmen (and women) would start using it in plant descriptions), and the Sunset Zone system (which is more useful in theory than the USDA zones, but whose basis in science is a bit fuzzy to me). Both of these latter systems are US/North America only, as far as I know.
