[IBC] Pennsylvania- Foraging for a Bonsai
----- Original Message -----
From: "Craig Cowing" I have had pretty good luck in pastures too. Another situation that will yield good results is rock outcroppings--ledge. Trees can't put down taproots and can develop wonderful bases because they spread rather than grow deep. Rock outcroppings and ledges can contain some really nice looking bonsai candidates. The problem around here is that they usually have a root or two disappearing into a crack in the rock, with no other fine roots near the trunk. They are impossible to collect. :-( Regards, Roger Snipes Spokane, WA Zone 5, or maybe Zone 6. Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies.
