Default [IBC] dandruff ?

tan oval flakes on back side of shefflera
leaves that flake off with fingernail scrape
or pin scrape ? aphid goo ? Jim zone 4

Probably a scale. It not too severe an infestation use your fingernail,
other wise an approved insecticide is called for.
