[IBC] Best time to Air-layer a Trident Maple
I have a larger (about 4-inches wide at the soil line) Trident Maple in
need of an Air Layer. It has been mild in our area and we have not even come close to summer dormancy. I am in Zone 5. What I am wondering is if the group thinks it is reasonable to start an Air layer now OR if not when should I start it. I know Spring is usually the optimum time. If I do it in Spring should I start it BEFORE or AFTER the leaves open. My thinking is that since in our area the leaves usually don't open until late May or early June (about 5 weeks ago) so now may be not optimal but still reasonably safe. I'd love some opinions. wmcorcor ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by John Quinn++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions?
