I have a Lemon Tree that I am growing from seed which I intend to grow as a

If you are eager to get started go the nursery and buy a Juniper or
something. The Lemon Tree will not be ready to work on for a number of years.
Personally I have not found Citrus very satisfactory for Bonsai. I have a
coupe of plants that I grew from seed collected from a volunteer street tree in
Jacksonville, FL. I chose them because Jacksonville is rather cold for Citrus
and this tree had survived for a number of years on the street in a
Jacksonville neighborhood without any care. Books simply say "Citrus spp." Meaning that
Citrus has been so hybridized that the specific variety is hard to name.
Some Citrus is more cold tolerant that others but in general they will be
damaged/killed by frost or freeze.

Billy on the Florida Space Coast also famous for Indian River Citrus although
this year three hurricanes have drastically reduced the crop by blowing the
fruit off of the trees.

It is very possible to stand in an Orange grove on Merritt Island and be very
close to the shuttle launch (when they get around to it again).
