[IBC] Pyrocomeles
From what little I know of plant biology/nomenclature, this plant shouldn't
exist as a distinct species. P A 'species' refers to a group of plants that are reproductively isolated? David J. The reference said it is a rare semi-evergreen shrub. It has white flowers but is sterile and produces no fruit. It would be interesting to know which species were the parents. ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by Evergreen Gardenworks++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions? From what little I know of plant biology/nomenclature, this
plant shouldn't exist as a distinct species. P A 'species' refers to a group of plants that are reproductively isolated? It is NOT a species. It is a crossed hybrid, and it is sterile. Each of the parents is a species (presumably), but their offspring is in sexual limbo. ;-) Jim Lewis - - Tallahassee, FL - "People, when Columbus discovered this country, it was plum full of nuts and berries. They make absolutely stunning weeping style trees. Jim Smith in Vero Beach, Florida is the only nurseryman that I know that has this plant available for purchase.
