Plants,Discus,Co2
I am working on a Discus-Plant-Tank with a Pinpoint co2 controller and
co2bottle. I am looking for a good book or good advise on: Wich Plants can handle the temp.? How much co2 do I plan on? This is the first interaction I attempt on the net, please be patient with me. Thanks Horst |

Thanks Horst On tropica's web site (www.tropica.com), I think they let you select discus tank and they give you a long list of plants that can be kept with discus. I have several varieties of swords, crypts, anubias, and java fern in my discus tank. I do not keep stem plants b/c I got tired of disturbing the fish due to weekly trimmings. big D -- Remove the word ³REMOVE² to reply to me. There is a plant index on tropica's web site that identifies temperature ranges
(and other envioronmental parameters) for many plants. Right now, I am not able to access the site; hopefully its still there! Try your luck: either http://www.tropica.com and look for a link to the plant index, or more directly http://192.38.244.204/go.asp?show=products I hope you have better luck pulling up the site than I did! For CO2 levels and management, see Chuck Gadd's web page: http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm You'll find many good articles on this site about many topics. -Bruce |

There is a discussion going on about this topic. big D -- Remove the word ³REMOVE² to reply to me. lower the temp into 27ºc, most plants including some that don't like above
26 will be fine in that enviroment. I have a helthy bunch of discus in a aquarium at 27ºc with glossostigma (max 26ºc) I convinced a colegue to drop his 3 discus ( he had many problem with them bought 10 only 3 remained) into his comunity tank with 27ºc.... it was allmoust 3 months ago... now he says that his discus never looked better... 27ºc might be a better temp for discus... the problem is this "low" temperatura could enhance parasitic activities... but that is not my experience....
