Guess where did I get mine from? From you only Dave. I got it during
October '02. My water parameters also same as yours except KH4 and GH5.

Dominic,

I recently shipped some to Dwight at Florida Driftwood.
(http://www.floridadriftwood.com). He suggests that it's a different color
varient, or even a different species, based on the aforementioned differences.

I got mine originally from Albany Aquarium in Albany California (just north of
Berkeley) in February 2002. When I traded them some last week, they pointed out
the bright red color. Then we did a search of the shop, and noticed both
distinct varieties for sale in different tanks : the denser, less-red variety,
and the taller, redder kind.

So I can make the informal observation, based on one uncontrolled data point,
that the two varieties seem to stay different even when kept in similar
conditions in the same store. But you could poke a lot of holes in that
statement!

BTW, Albany Aquaruim has more than 20 tanks filled with healthy plants for
sale...
