Default position of co2 defuser

I am running a wet/dry trickle system on a 100gal tank with the defuser in
the sump - the outlet is directed straight at the inlet of the return pump
which directs the return to minimise surface disturbance. I seem to get an
inconsistant growth rate across the tank

tank setup is
10 discus
20 or so rummy nose tetras
20 or so bleeding heart tetras
10 cory catfish
2 bristlenose

10% weekly water change
using dupla laterrite
an Australian product Aquasonic basic Grow and daily drops
1.9WPG
trickle filter
fluval 404
PH 7
KH 6
FE 1.0
with presurised CO2

and I know some one is going to tell me the fish load is bit high but no
problems to date
