Default Ranunculus Aquatilis......

Need a little bit of advice from someone in the know. I ordered some
aquatic plants off ebay but accidentally ordered two lots of RANUNCULUS
AQUATILIS - One lot contained ten bunches - the other just one bunch.

As soon as I received the plants I immediately transferred them to
water - my pond isn't quite ready yet so have been using pots filled
with rain water to keep them in ready for moving into the pond.

Anyway, checked this morning and it looks like most of the ten bunches
are dying - all falling to bits - stems have broken off and the grassy
end bits are loose in the water.

What I have noticed is the other 'one bunch' appears to have a few
white roots on it and is still in my opinion alive but none of the ten
bunches had these roots. Should the bunches have had these roots when
bought?
