Default Rain Lily-(Zephranthes robustus)


Impressive shot.
I like your technique of allowing the foreground to fade into a darker
and darker background. Did you do this by creative lighting or via
Photoshop?

I waited till the background was shaded, used a fairly wide open lens (f5.6)
to get a reasonably shallow depth of field. Then in Paint Shop Pro, I used
the curves adjustment to further darken the background, plus a little gamma
adjustment.

I don't understand what 'gamma adjustment' is, it's on my prog but I've
never used it.

Gamma adjustment will do two things at once. When you use it, contrast
and brightness or darkening is done with that one step. It is a way of
controlling the two I believe. It seems to be that way with irfanview
under image, enhance colors.....
