Deer will eat most anything! Here is a good pamplet provided by the Alabama

Lot of us call them rats with hooves. They mess up our gardens, eat our
shrubs and a mature buck can strip all the bark off a small tree. Rather
than try to attract them, start looking for ways to protect your plantings
