potentilla zones 8/31

Potentila fruiticosa, do well up here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. And we
are zone 3A.
Can anyone suggest a potentilla-like shrub for Elizabeth City, NC
(8/31).

I appreciate your suggestion but what I need is something with similar
qualities which will do well in zone 8 (31), coastal North Carolina.
