Default Bean plants "disappearing"

I planted several rows of Roma beans in a heavily mulched area (I live in NJ).

One row seems to be doing fine, but the other row, one by one, is disappearing.
It seems to be from underground. Could moles be doing this, or is it a
chipmunk. I never had it happen quite like this before (they took my geranium
and chomped it from under the ground also).

Is there anything I can use to prevent this from happening?
