Default patchmaster and bugs

Hi all,

We bought a house in Baltimore almost a year ago. The house had not
been well kept (the owner had died for quite a while) and there were
patches of dying grass and ivy. We pulled out all the ivy (lots of
work!), left the ground baking in the summer sun and recently put top
soil on the bare ground and put Scott's PatchMaster mix from Home
Depot. The grass has been growing well.

Now the reason I am writing this is because the neighbor just told us
that they have bugs in their windows (small silvery bugs according to
them) and they had to get an exterminator to their house. The
exterminator asked them if they recently planted new grass, and they
told him that they didn't but of course their neighbor did. The
exterminator told them that some bugs may result from planting new
grass.

So my questions a

1. Is the theory true (bugs from new grass), and does it apply also
for PatchMaster + top soil that we did.

2. Everything is hunky dory in our house (which is separated by some
20" from theirs) and we have not seen any bug attack in our house
(although we may just have to look more closely). Shouldn't we be the
one who get the bugs first? Some of the patches that we did are just
outside our windows.

Many thanks for any comment.

Your neighbor is full of shit. I've used Patchmaster and laid sod before and
never saw any bugs.
