Potted Dahlias over winter?
I have several pots of Dahlias here in Central Massachusetts which, for
some reason, started to bloom late this year. Is it a good idea to bring them into a very sunny room for the winter, and let them keep growing and blooming (if they will)? Or do they require rest? Last winter, thanks to advice from this group, I kept my potted cannia growing all winter and it was spectacular this summer. Thanks! |

Potted Dahlias over winter?
Dahlias need some rest, and fall is their normal blooming time. Best to let the
first frost kill the top and remove it and then store away the tubers. and do you mean Canna? I over winter at lest one every year in my trailer, I'm in the high Mojave Desert. http://home.inreach.com/starlord/canna/ -- "In this universe the night was falling, the shadows were lengthening towards an east that would not know another dawn. But elsewhere the stars were still young and the light of morning lingered: and along the path he once had followed, man would one day go again." Arthur C.
