Default daylily and ants

I have some stella de oro daylily and have grown them a few years. This
year there seems to be a lot of small pavement ants crawling around on the
blooms. I hadn't noticed this in previous years and there are not an over
abundance of these ants in the general area or on other plants in the same
vicinity. I don't see any any mounds nearby and in general, don't have these
ants much of anywhere else in the entire yard. Is it these daylillies that
attract them? Do the ants aid or hamper the plants cycle?
