Default Comcast is dropping Newsgroups

Sure hope you guys can suggest some helpful question/answer type forums as
Comcrap is dropping Newsgroups in a few days.

So the great help I've gotten from this newsgroups will be unavailable.

Any free 'gardening forums' you guys can suggest?

You gals also...don't want to sound....non PC.

Why not just get a backup newsserver? Motzarella is free, and carries this
group.

There's plenty of free newsservers out there, some better than others.
That's one that I use as a backup, for when my ISP's server is down.

will check it out, thanks again.

No problem. Good luck. =)

Why? G2 sucks big time.

- compared to a newsreader, G2's interface is terrible

- G2 provides no filtering of all of the G2 sourced spam & hipcrime &
anonymized trolls

- G2's topic threading is very poor - nonexistent

- G2 doesn't carry a lot of useful usenet groups

- because there's so much G2 sourced spam & hipcrime & other
undesirables, many people filter /all/ G2 posters, meaning that many of
the people who could help with a problem don't even see a GGer's post

- G2 tends to induce some poor posting practices, such as top posting
and/or untrimmed bottom posting

- G2 exposes the user's connectivity IP and as well as a good email
address in the From, which bothers those with privacy concerns

- G2 doesn't provide an autosig or autosigtrimming function

Screw Google Groups. When they took over the DejaNews archive, that was a
good thing. When they tried to make it look like /they/ were the end-all of
USENET, and started a web portal (trying to make it look like they created
all of the groups, when in fact they're simply a web-portal to a protocol
that's been around longer than the www) they blew it.

This is from a reply to the same question on another group -

The following brief list of free text news servers is in alphabetical
order without editorial comment. It's a short list. Check out the
servers and decide for yourself which one is best for you. No one knows
what works for you better than you do.

CNNTP http://www.cnntp.org/cnntp

100% on "they blew it" and then ruined it...
