Summer Orchids : (new) Prasophyllum flavum 1/3
While looking in an area where I had seen some nice Potato-Orchids in
previous years I saw some green, budding sprouts. I thought at first they may have been Dipodium roseum buds as their stems can be green too, but the flower buds are usually pale. I went back several days later to see the flowers open. With some help via email they've been identified as the Yellow Leek-Orchid (Prasophyllum flavum). I've not seen them in Sherbrooke Forest before but apparently they are quite widespread and common. The reference book even has as one of its samples, images from Sherbrooke. -- http://rnr.id.au |
