I told Sue Erickson about the AOS Index as a refereence to make the old AOS
Bulletins more worthwhile. I got this response from Bob Betts reminding me about the London Orchid Socety's Photo Index. It can act as a poorman's index to many orchid publications. I tried it and it works just like he says! See below: K Barrett "When you consider that most of the AOS bulletin articles that go into any depth about the subject will contain pictures, I may have a partial but free solution for you. The picture index that I maintain on the London Orchid Society web page has a pointer to issue and page number for every picture of an orchid flower that was printed. It will not help you if you are researching something like culture where the only pictures are of protocorms or tiny seedlings in flasks. But if you want to know about Stanhopea's for example you could enter Stanhopea or Stanhopea embreei and among others it will point to page 1262 of the December 1982 AOS Bulletin which has an article about "Identification of Floral Fragrance Components of Stanhopea embreei and Attraction of Its Pollinators to Synthetic Fragrance Compounds". The index will be complete from October 2003 back to 1956 with some issues back to January 1954. The web page is at http://los.lon.imag.net/picref.asp . Hope that helps a bit." - Bob Betts |
