paph malipoense beginning to wilt - normal?
How long is a paph malipoense usually in flower? Mine was in spike for about
5 months, and now it's been in bloom for about 1 month. I had kind of hoped that it would be in bloom longer than that. It's not fully wilted yet, but the dorsal sepal has got a brown spot on it, making me think that it's preparing to wilt sometime soon. How long do paph malipoense usually stay in bloom? Thanks, Joanna |

Yes, it would be nice if they stayed in flower as long as they stayed in bud... But that sounds reasonably typical. It might hang on for a few more weeks, but it is certainly past its prime. Rob,
Thanks. Now I'm both disappointed and relieved all at once: disappointed that a month's blooming is reasonably typical (shucks, really wished it were longer), but relieved that wilting after a month is reasonably typical (so there is nothing wrong with my malipoense, oh good). It's still one of my favorite orchids, despite the disproportionate in-spike to in-bloom. Joanna "Rob Halgren" wrote in message ... J Fortuna wrote: How long is a paph malipoense usually in flower?
