Default ID Request

Looking for an ID on two fruit/seed structures:

The first one is some sort of seed cone or dehiscent fruit, but it's
unlike anything I've seen before.

The second one also appears to be a dehiscent fruit of some type. It has
an almost velvety feel to it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I can't help you, but let me point out your missing information. What is
the size of these things? Where did you find them? What part of the world are
they from?

The cone-like object is 5.2 cm from tip to tip, 4.8 cm in dia. The
second object is 7.1 cm long and about 3.5 cm in dia. I have no idea
where they are from...my mom bought them as-is probably about 30 years
ago, and has no memory of what they are.
