Another Mystery
I just bought a miniature sedge labeled Carex berggrenii. On Google there are
numerous entries from catalogues, but nothing scientific that tells me anything. It is supposedly a native of New Zealand but was also found growing on Spitzbergen. A search of IPNI and MBG:W3Tropicos reveals they never heard of it. I think the taxonomist was Heer. If you ask IPNI for the genus Carex you get thousands of entries. Anybody got any further information? Iris, Central NY, Zone 5a, Sunset Zone 40 "If we see light at the end of the tunnel, It's the light of the oncoming train." Robert Lowell (1917-1977) |
