Thats an interesting idea and one I may adopt. There cant be many people with a shed on an island in their garden.

Ive not tried aromatic oils but did try crispy aromatic duck once which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Ponds are a fine addition to a garden or cellar and will bring many hours of joy to anyone with nothing better to do of a sunny Summer's day than kick back and enjoy the sound of a dozen or so warty toads clambering lustily over a single female and throatily declaring their intentions to be the one to deliver her to a moist paradise. Kate Humble often springs to mind at moments like this. I love Springwatch.

Best of luck with your pondwork, PoisonedMonkey (loving that username btw), keep us all informed of your progress. x
I had a pond and spent thousands on beautiful Koi from a local Garden Centre, whithin a few days they were all gone.

At first I thought it was Heron taking them, then a very good friend of mine told me that Fairy Liquid is not the way to clean the pond filters.

Tough lesson to learn but something I will pass on.

You just need to clean up, towel down and move on. Get some more koi, their sinuous movements are a real summer stimulant for me. x
Thank you Terrapin

Also I was thinking of getting a cat to keep away the Herons around here...but I have seen a post sayoing that cats like to poo in compost and that is dangerous.

Is it a wise move or not... Cats can't swim so I am not worried about them eating the fish.

Great point about the compost. Cats are fastidious creatures and could well choose your compost heap as a toilet. Compost heaps can catch fire on their own so perhaps the poo makes it explosive, I don't know. I'd hate to see next door's lovely puss go off like a rocket.

Good luck x
My neighbour too indeed has a nice pussy too, though it is one of them hairless types.

I have increased amount of pond life during the summer, how can I reduce this?

Re your increased pond life problem. This is quite normal in summertime especially. Be patient and you'll find most of them will get frustrated and delete themselves given time and normal service will be resumed.

Bestest x
Thank you Terrapin...yeah the Furkin sounds a great idea too
