Default If you build it, they will come.....

The pond is about a month old now and the resident toad that has hung
around the patio the last couple of years found last night he now has a
place to sing to the night on top of a turtle spitter...

Tonight it was ..wow that little guy is really getting after it
tonight, went out to the pond and there were 6 males and one female.

LOL getting to wonder when the calls from the neighbors will start.

You gotta love the sound of the calls...or go nuts if the pond is near
your house. Our toads sound like crickets on speed. The green tree
frogs are much louder and intrusive. The other frogs are more
'traditional' croakers. We are so used to it that they are background
noise to us. Guests don't always take that view!

Enjoy them.

Our guest room is at the far end of the house. So far no complaints from
any overnight guests. :-)

1...6...hmm what's the pattern?

11 the next night or 36? Give us a count of the action tonight. You
might have created the only toad hostel in the neighborhood ;-}

Once a male starts singing, other males and females come. We find the
males get there first and try to intimidate one another. Gives the
ladies a better selection!

heh....sort of got me wondering too. There is a string of eggs amongst
the Parrot Feather so interested to see if the female shows up again or
if it's a one time affair, leaving the other males to be singing the
blues tonight.
