Default Filtering my Clay Water

See if you can get your hands on a 55 gal drum, slowly pump the water from
the bottom of the pond, and run the hose into the bottom of the drum. Then
at the top of the drum have a siphon hose leading back to the pond. This

way
you can make a settling chamber.

Stack milk crates inside of the drum, to slow the rate at which the water

in
the drum is moving, that will help things settle. Also put a flow

restrictor
on the pump, like a section of 3/4 inch pipe.

My wife and I were discussing this very concept yesterday. We're considering
it...

Dude,
Wait it out. You do realize some people pay to get clay dump in their pond?
At my local pond stuff store, They sell clay in a bottle (Forgot the brand
name now), it's suppose to cure all the ills of the world as far as ponds
go!

So step away from the calcite, and start picking rocks for the edge of our
pond! Aren't you going to build bridge, filter, waterfall, etc? Then git
going with those before we vote you out as our CPO! ;-)

BV,

the koi will stir it up, and that is good. Each time it settles, it

will
settle closer to the bottom drain and eventually find its way to the VF,
where the plant roots will help filter it out, make it settle where it

is
easier to remove.

Rich, you have had piles of good suggestions on this thread, and I know

you
are right. I am just impatient. I want to see the pond bottom. *laugh* 75%
of me says wait it out. 25% still wants to go buy some calcite.

I guess you haven't read your prospectus...liner in, water in, VF running,
water circulating, first round of rock installed...plants planted...The
waterfall is in next year's budget. *laugh*

BV, go get a bottle of Accu-Clear by Pond Care. It's made for ponds and
can't hurt anything. At least you'll see the bottom and know if it is going
to murk right up. Without fish is the best time to fool around. ~ jan

Accu-Clear, a form of Aluminum Sulfate (Alum), but hey, there's
directions on the bottle for how much per gallon(s) to use. ;o) ~ jan
