Default Odd Lotus Question

OK, here's one for the group...probably Nedra the most...

When we plant lotus we like to put them in shallow, big diameter pots. This
is because the tubors only need 4-6 inches of soil to grow, and the round
pot (with tubor planted near the edge) allows the tubor to grow and follow
the curve of the pot.

What about a pot that is 12 feet long, 12 inches wide and 8 inches deep. How
would that work as a Lotus pot?

This is a serious question.
