Default Pavlov's Koi (a short .mov)

Not the greatest videography, but its shows off the koi OK. It is
about 1 min long:

I like to think these pics are much improved over the first batch I
posted a few weeks back.

Very nice!
How big is your pond
and how many koi do you have in it
and how do you keep the water so clear?

It is just under 5000 gal. and it is now 14 years old.

There were 42 last winter, I'm sure I have quite a few babies now too.
But with more than 500++ gambusia (mosquitoe fish) its hard to tell the
koi from them at this point.

Next spring I will have to force myself to cull some of the koi for the
first time... started with 7 fish 14 years ago.

and how do you keep the water so clear?

Offerings to the Pond Goddess; to include, but not limited to 'first
born son' :-)

The pond has a 500 lbs sand filter w/ #16 silica sand w/ 1 1/2HP bass
pool pump run 24/7 hrs.. It has 60 watts of UV and the entire
foreground of this pic in a Undergravel Filter (about 12" of lava rock)

It also has the basket of Water Hyacinths. The pond never exceeds
10ppm nitrate a they eat A LOT!! pH locked in at 8.3.

My favorite shot:

Wow! Jay! That was great, great choice of music too, your koi were just
dancing to it! ~ jan
