One pic of happy pond plants
Hi all. Had a busy summer. Not much summer-like weather upstate NY
though... I took this photo two weeks ago. My pond plants have been growing like crazy (must be the food spikes I have been using) and flowering too. The ground covers are looking much better over the rocks now. http://community.webtv.net/drcmtc3/p...s/mailedD9.jpg Denise |

And you're right; not much of a summer in the hills west of Albany, though a new lotus (the only one of several that "took") has already put up a couple of nice blossoms. Go figure. Has anybody here tried wild rice? I've got a few plants, bought from a nursery in Massachusetts, that are blooming. I'm guessing that the seed is meant to fall in the water and overwinter. But I digress. As usual. Peace, Gary Woods AKA K2AHC- PGP key on request, or at home.earthlink.net/~garygarlic Zone 5/6 in upstate New York, 1420' elevation. NY WO G |

Gary, I haven't tried wild rice and I asked some of my friends with
ponds if they have any growing. Nope, but here's a website I found that maybe you will find interesting: http://www.bio.umass.edu/biology/conn.river/rice.html Denise Tour my gardens: http://web1.in4web.com/mtcdrc |
