you need to clean up the fish. Ingrid (KRF) wrote: I want to bring three of my fish indoors this winter. I want to set up a 55 gal tank, which I already have from days gone by. I wanted to fill it 1/2 with pond water and 1/2 with fresh water. I wasgoing to take some of the bio media out of the submurgeable filter in my pond and put in in a media bag in my tank to kick start it. Will this work? I want to try to minimize the cycle process. I also have some pondzyme. Should I put that in the tank too? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List Manager: Puregold Goldfish List http://puregold.aquaria.net/ www.drsolo.com Solve the problem, dont waste energy finding who's to blame ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unfortunately, I receive no money, gifts, discounts or other compensation for all the damn work I do, nor for any of the endorsements or recommendations I make. |

they are goldfish. and they are about 3.5 inches long. I was going to bring two or three of them in and put them in a 55 gallon tank. I did similar, but started the 1st of October and brought one fish at a time in over 4 weeks. Worked great, no big spikes, though I used Amquel, so no toxic ammonia and nitrite was almost nil. I used all tap water, and let the filter run for 5 days before introducing first fish. I made sure the pH was the same as pond, then I brought fish in, in a tub and didn't transfer them till the end of the day so they gradually warmed up. At the same time I brought in a bucket of pond water, salted it (per Ingrid's advice) and just before they went into tank, they were salt dipped 3-5 minutes. ~ jan See my ponds thru the seasons and/or my filter design: http://users.owt.com/jjspond/ ~Keep 'em Defrosted~ Tri-Cities, WA Zone 7a To e-mail see website ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups ---= East/West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =--- |
